Are Breast Implants Right for Me?

Blog Post March 25, 2021 post.reading-time

The complete truth is many women opt to have breast implants for a number of different reasons.

A common misconception is that breast implants are used to restore the volume of the breast alone, but this is only partially true. The complete truth is many women opt to have breast implants for a number of different reasons.

Now, if you find yourself still considering whether you even want to begin your own breast augmentation journey, whatever your motivators may be, or you’re questioning if you “qualify” for one in the first place, we’re here to shine a little light on the possibilities.

Let’s Talk Breast Augmentation

For many women, their breasts are a symbol of femininity, in which the appearance of their breasts are important to their sense of self. In some cases, the negative relationships with their breasts caused by severe breast asymmetry, generic chest disorders, underdevelopment or breast volume loss due to breastfeeding or weight loss, have resulted in a negative impact on their self-esteem and confidence, affecting their daily lives. For that reason, many women opt to have breast augmentation surgery to enhance the appearance of their breasts and build a healthy relationship with their bodies.

If any of this sounds similar to your current situation, a breast augmentation surgery is a journey you might consider worthwhile. And because our purpose at Motiva® is first and foremost women’s health, we’ve created a comprehensive PRODUCT and SERVICE portfolio to meet the needs of every woman no matter where she is in her unique journey.

The Journey of Breast Reconstruction

The breast reconstruction journey is a story of fighters, survivors and previvors who opted to have breast surgery to either fully (mastectomy) or partially remove breast tissue from one or both breasts to prevent or cure cancer. In some cases, the breast may also need to be reconstructed following trauma or anatomical disorders. Reconstruction can be carried out at the same time as the initial surgery (immediate reconstruction) or months or even years later (delayed reconstruction). Reconstructing the breast can be performed using breast implants alone, a tissue expander followed by a breast implant, autologous fat (the body’s own tissues) or a combination of all. Many women undergoing a mastectomy, have reported a feeling of “loss” and therefore choose breast reconstruction surgery as a way to get back to feeling “whole again”.

If you have lived or are living through either of these possibilities, you may consider undergoing breast reconstruction, for which you can choose confidently from our Motiva® implant family.

The Second (or More) Go-round

As mentioned, the option to undergo breast implant surgery can be life changing, bringing women many positive effects from increased self-confidence to wholeness and a newfound love for their bodies. However, in many cases women often undergo a second surgery (breast revision) to remove or replace their breast implants. The breast revision journey is diverse, with women choosing it for a myriad of reasons. In some cases, women have experienced a device complication, or surgical asymmetry requiring correction and breast implant replacement. Whilst other women choose revision surgery for aesthetic reasons; either they are unhappy about the size or shape of their breast implants, due to initial implant choice, or their implants may have started to sag and droop due to the effects of aging, weight loss, pregnancy or gravity. Finally, there is a number of women who recognize that their breast implants are not lifetime devices and simply want to replace their old breast implants with new, advanced breast implants, inserted using innovative surgical techniques to improve the safety and aesthetic profile of their breasts.

If you already have breast implants and are looking to switch them out, you may consider using Motiva® for the second time round.

Know that the journey you choose to undergo is essentially that: your choice. Together with your surgeon’s expertise, you can determine which option is best for your current situation and your desired results.
